Monthly givers sustaining YWCA Spokane's programs and services

Make a Consistent Difference for Women, Children, Survivors and Families in Need

Approximately 80% of our funding is met through grants, but those grants aren’t guaranteed and each comes with strict guidelines for how the funds will be spent. That’s why recurring donations of any amount can make an enormous difference for clients in need. Your sustaining monthly gift provides a reliable source of funding each month to meet the day-to-day needs of YWCA clients – and makes it easier for us to budget for the coming months.

What Your Gift Can Do

$15 can give a survivor a safe way to communicate by covering the cost of a prepaid phone plan their abuser won’t be able to access.

$25 can offset transportation costs for a survivor or family who needs help making it to work or accessing services.

$50 can cover one night in a hotel for a survivor in imminent danger when there is no room in our emergency safe shelter.

$100 can feed a mother and her children while they focus on healing from a traumatic relationship.

Day 6: White Supremacy & Gun Violence

White supremacy’s link to gun violence is alarming, with incidents like the Christchurch and Pittsburgh shootings highlighting this trend. Perpetrators often act out of racial hatred, using guns to target specific communities. Addressing this requires stricter gun control, better education, and improved online content monitoring.

Day 5: Pay Gap & Unpaid Labor

The gender pay gap is significantly influenced by unpaid caregiving, primarily done by women. This unpaid work, including child and elder care, leads to career interruptions and lower wages due to part-time work and reduced hours. Recognizing and valuing caregiving in policies is crucial to closing the pay gap.
