Smile Makers Visit YWCA Spokane!

On Tuesday, August 1, we had some special guests light up YWCA Spokane with big, beautiful smiles! Delta Dental teamed up the Tooth Fairy and visited our free, on-site drop-in Child Care, a service offered to women using YWCA Spokane’s facilities. The Tooth Fairy visited our awesome kiddos and helped them discover how important oral hygiene is and ways they can keep their teeth and gums healthy!

In addition to this fun surprise, Delta Dental also awarded two of our own, Diane and Laurel, with Smile Maker status! According to Delta Dental,

The Tooth Fairy counts with a kiddo!

“Smile makers come from all walks of life. They can be a teacher, your local grocery clerk or a best friend who is always there for you. They can give of their time by volunteering, they can give of themselves by donating blood or they can give of their talents by bringing cookies into the office on Mondays.”

Diane and Laurel were recognized because of all the wonderful things they do with the kids. We felt it was time to repay them for their fantastic work, and some of the leadership staff decided to nominate them for the Smile Makers award. A little birdie told the Tooth Fairy that they were both looking forward to a break and some pampering, so Diane and Laurel received a Davenport Spa package! Smile Makers also donated a bunch of food and additional supplies for the shelter, Our Sister’s Closet (OSC), and the drop-in childcare.

Diane and Laurel, thank you so much for the work you do, and surrounding our kiddos with extra love, care, and attention!

At YWCA Spokane, we educate, care for, invest in, and advocate for over 1,000 girls and boys each year. We have been providing exceptional care and educational services to children since 1967, and currently offer an Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) to help three- and four-year-olds prepare for kindergarten. For more information about our free on-site childcare call 509.326.1190. To discover more about our ECEAP programs, call 509.789.9294 or email shannong@ywcaspokane.org.
