What is Intimate Partner Violence?
Any form of violence from a spouse, domestic partner, former spouse, former domestic partner, has a child in common, or formerly or currently lives together as part of a dating relationship.
Anyone can experience intimate partner violence. While each case is unique, abusive behavior often follows a pattern of behavior to control the survivor.
It can be difficult to identify various forms of abuse, particularly when they are indirect or not as obvious as physical or sexual violence, such as financial, emotional, and spiritual abuse. View the Power & Control Wheel to learn more.
