A free, donation-based, women’s clothing & necessity boutique available to anyone in need.

Our Sister's Closet 

Each 90-minute appointment focused on fitting a client with items to help them feel beautiful, boost their confidence, and support their personal and professional goals. A client will receive clothing, shoes, makeup, accessories, and personal hygiene products as available during their scheduled appointment. 

How to Access this Service

Schedule an Appointment

Call us on Friday mornings to schedule an appointment for the next week.

If childcare is needed during your appointment, please let our staff know when you call. We can provide this service free of charge with notice.

If we are unable to answer, please leave a voicemail with a safe phone number to receive a return call to schedule.

Our Sister's Closet is located upstairs (elevator available) at YWCA Spokane. Check in at our front desk in the atrium prior to your appointment. 

If you do not speak English, please let staff know if you need an interpreter and for what language.

Your generosity helps others move forward with confidence

Because our boutique space is limited, we ask donors to focus on items that are clean, in good condition, and ready to immediately serve someone in our community.

Where to Donate

Drop off donations on Tuesdays from 9:00am – 4:00pm at YWCA Spokane, 930 N Monroe St, Spokane, WA 99201.

Volunteer

Our Sister’s Closet would not be possible without the support of volunteers.

Volunteering your time to walk women through an appointment in our boutique can be a tremendously rewarding experience. In Our Sister's Closet, you will participate in a fast-paced environment completing a variety of different tasks. 

Skills of an ideal OSC Volunteer:

  • Excellent time management, able to complete a variety of tasks
  • Able to work by themselves and with others
  • Knowledgeable about appropriate clothing fit and styling
  • Greets customers with warmth, assists in appointments, and asks appropriate questions
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills, proficiency with Chrome and Google programs is a plus
  • Experience in fashion merchandising, retail, interior design, and customer service is a plus.

Volunteer

Group Volunteering

Group volunteering is a great way to have fun with friends and colleagues while doing good in our community! If you would like to gather friends and colleagues for a fun service project, consider signing up for a sorting party. We offer one-time volunteer events for groups of 5–10 people to sort donations.

Donation Guide

Drop-off Note: Small donations can be dropped off on Tuesdays between 9:00am - 4:00pm at YWCA Spokane, 930 N Monroe, Spokane, WA 99201. Please call 509-326-1190 or email oursisterscloset@ywcaspokane.org to schedule larger donation drop-offs to ensure our team is prepared. 

Items We Gladly Accept

Women’s Clothing (New or Gently Used)

We welcome casual and professional clothing that is clean, in current styles, and ready to wear, including:

  • Tops, blouses, sweaters, and tanks
  • Slacks, jeans, leggings, and skirts
  • Dresses and professional wear
  • Coats, jackets, and blazers
  • Flats, tennis shoes, and practical footwear
  • Workout wear and scrubs
  • Maternity clothing
  • Handbags and accessories (belts, scarves, jewelry, etc.)
  • Seasonal items appropriate for the current weather

New-Only Essentials

For health and hygiene reasons, these items must be new and unopened:

  • Underwear, socks, tights, and hosiery
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Shampoo, conditioner, soap, and body wash
  • Deodorant and dental care items
  • Shaving supplies
  • Cosmetics for a range of skin tones Hair products for a range of textures

Items We Cannot Accept

To make the best use of our limited space, we are unable to accept:

  • Clothing that is stained, damaged, heavily worn, or has strong odors
  • Used underwear, socks, or opened hygiene products
  • Used makeup or sample-size toiletries
  • Household goods, electronics, toys, or furniture
  • Exercise equipment, car seats, or cribs

If you have items that fall outside our scope, we are happy to suggest other local organizations that may be able to use them.

Tips for Donating

  • Donate items you would confidently give to a friend.
  • Wash clothing before donating.
  • Consider seasonal needs (coats in winter, lighter clothing in summer).
  • When in doubt, ask — we’re happy to help!
Host a Drive

Conduct a donation drive in 4 Easy Steps: 

  1. Tell us your plan.
    • We can advertise your drive on social media, inform you of our current needs, and schedule a time to receive donations. Let us know at connect@ywcaspokane.org. 
  2. Call on your community. 
    • Are you part of a book club or church group? Do you work in an office? Want to do something fun and different for your birthday or another important life events? Gather and inform your group of people to help and let them spread the word!
    • Share this informational flyer about Our Sister's Closet
  3. Decide what you want to donate. 
    • The following items are generally always needed:
      • Bras and panties (bras can be gently used or new, panties must be new and in packaging)
      • Hygiene items such as feminine hygiene products, full sized shampoos and conditioners, deodorant, dental care products, etc.
      • Socks (must be new in packaging)
      • Jeans and leggings
      • Note: The most successful drives focus on gathering a specific much needed item from the list above.
  4. Schedule a time to drop off donations collected from your drive:
