Meet Rachel – Women’s History Month 2024

Women’s History Month (WHM) was first celebrated on a national level in 1982 as “Women’s History Week.” In 1987, Congress designated the month of March as Women’s History Month and it has been continued through presidential proclamations ever since. Learn more at womenshistorymonth.gov.

This March, we want to celebrate a few of our amazing staff members who are actively creating our history every day!

Meet Rachel!

Rachel is a Limited License Legal Technician in our Civil Legal Department. Rachel advises and assists survivors of IPDV with family law matters.

What first drew you to YWCA Spokane?
I identify with the YWCA’s mission. As a woman who has faced adversity, I have always been eager to make change to systems that are not equitable.

What do you wish more people knew about YWCA Spokane?
ALL are welcome here!

What is your favorite part of your role?
Each person’s circumstances are unique. I learn something new, both personally and professionally, as a result of each interaction. It is rewarding to help them navigate systems and achieve positive outcomes.

Pizza. So basic, but so good!

I would be a cowboy cookie. I’m a little bit of everything.

Anything related to the arts; singing; playing an instrument, acting, etc. Something creative.

You do not need to have your vehicle aligned every time you rotate your tires. You do need to have your vehicle aligned every time you have new tires put on it.

Inclusive, Adaptive, Committed

Name a show or movie you recently watched and loved.
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Sunshine, shopping and dinner parties; a total escape from my reality…

If you magically had tomorrow off, what would you do?
I would sleep in. Probably do some cleaning/organizing around the house and cook a nice dinner for my family.
