YWCA Spokane Client Story
"I am a success story."
I am alive, a survivor, and a success story because of the YWCA Domestic Violence Program.
The advocates at the shelter were amazing to me and my family. The kids got a huge amount of therapy through the craft group and being with other kids going through similar circumstances.
The supplemental food the shelter provided saved us from going hungry that first month.
The advocates were very helpful. They helped me start a new life from scratch.

Why Your Story is Important to this Work
Statements and stories illustrating the impact of our work can help us advocate for additional needs and propel people into action.
Stories of every length and depth have the power to shape the media narrative, influence legislatures, raise critical funds, and lift up our fellow community members.
If you have been impacted by YWCA, please share your story and help us celebrate successes, bring attention to injustice, and connect supporters to our work. We’ve created this online form to make it simple and easy for you to share stories and statements of impact with us.
Owning Your Story Can Be Incredibly Powerful

A Client Statement
"The staff was so calming"
The emotional comfort the wonderful teachers give our students is such a blessing. Our grandson had been through some traumatic events and was having a rough time. The staff was so calming for him. He didn’t want to go to school but his teacher hugged him so gently and talked to calmly to him. I know he felt the comfort and began to really enjoy school. I am grateful that they set him off in the right direction instead of adding to his fears.
