For Community Members and Organizations

In addition to responding to survivors of Intimate Partner Domestic Violence (IPDV), YWCA Spokane is proud to offer training sessions for community members and organizations who want to learn more about intimate partner violence. Register for one of our online sessions or schedule a custom training for your group or organization.

About Our Training

Domestic Violence 101

Our “DV 101: Recognize. Respond. Refer.” course is a great way to get involved in ending the silence surrounding domestic violence. This training covers the basics of what intimate partner violence is, how to help someone who may be experiencing DV, and provides an overview of our free and confidential services.

  • Who is affected by IPV?
  • What are potential indicators of IPV?
  • How to help someone experiencing IPV
  • YWCA Spokane’s free and confidential services

Domestic Violence 201

The “DV 201: Learning In Action” course covers the complex nature of intimate partner domestic violence and how to apply the lessons from DV 101 to scenarios and discussion questions.

Due to the nature of this training, we highly recommend that you attend Domestic Violence 101: Recognize. Respond. Refer. first.

  • Common myths surrounding Intimate Partner Violence (IPV)
  • IPV experiences in specific groups
    Discussion of IPV scenarios
  • Overview of legal protections available
  • Differences between Support Advocacy and Therapy

Custom Training

We are pleased to provide free custom trainings for groups, businesses, and organizations, either in person or virtually. Topics can vary and be tailored depending on amount of time for the training, audience, and need. Topics may include:

  • Basics of intimate partner violence
  • Red flags
  • Common myths
  • Discussion of complex scenarios
