By embracing Disability Pride, we move towards a world where everyone feels valued, respected, and included. The Significance of Disability Pride

Disability Pride is a movement that celebrates the uniqueness and contributions of individuals with disabilities, while also advocating for inclusion and accessibility. It is not simply about accepting and embracing one’s disability; it is a movement that seeks to dismantle ableism, challenge stereotypes, and advocate for equal rights and opportunities for individuals with disabilities. It encourages people with disabilities to take pride in their unique identities and accomplishments, while also educating society about the importance of inclusion and accessibility. Disability Pride Month provides us with an opportunity to challenge societal norms and promote a more inclusive future for all.

The Intersection of Disability and LGBTQ+ Identities

• Erin Ferrier: Erin is a passionate advocate for disability and LGBTQ+ rights. As Program Manager & Lead Independent Living Advocate at INDEx WA, Erin has worked to create inclusive spaces for individuals with disabilities while addressing the intersectional challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals within the disabled community. Erin’s insights and expertise make her a valuable resource for understanding the complexities of these identities and the importance of celebrating them.
• Misha Lehmann: Misha is an Outreach Advocate at INDEx WA and activist who identifies as both disabled and queer. Through their work, Misha has been instrumental in raising awareness about the unique struggles and triumphs experienced by individuals who navigate multiple marginalized identities. Misha’s perspective brings valuable insights into the barriers faced by the disabled LGBTQ+ community and the power of embracing this intersectionality.
