New Member Enrollment IS Available Each January

Stand Against Racism 2019

YWCA Spokane’s Racial and Social Justice (RSJ) Committee accepts new members during the month of January each year. The enrollment window is now closed.

A limited enrollment window allows our committee of dedicated volunteers and staff members the ability to maintain a cohesive group with clear objectives throughout the year.

We ask each individual interested in joining YWCA’s RSJ Committee read through and agree to the committee expectations, time commitment, and community norms listed in the charter.

You can read the 2020 YWCA Spokane Racial and Social Justice Committee Charter here. We also ask interested parties to review and understand YWCA USA’s advocacy and policy priorities.

The Commitment

We ask each new volunteer member of the RSJ Committee to agree to serve a one year term. The full RSJ Committee meets monthly to discuss and address annual goals. In addition, subcommittees meet periodically as needed to achieve specific objectives in relation to racial and social justice events, campaigns, activities, and objectives.  We ask that members make every effort possible to attend the monthly committee meetings, which are setup in advance. Currently, the RSJ Committee meets on the first Thursday of each month at noon.

Additional Ways To Make A Difference

If you are passionate about supporting YWCA Spokane’s racial and social justice work but missed the enrollment window for this year, we still encourage you to volunteer and support the work and mission in other ways. Consider visiting our advocacy suggestions here. Any questions can be directed to our team by emailing rsj@ywcaspokane.org

In addition to their service to our community, we appreciate their commitment to YWCA Spokane’s mission of eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
