Now recruiting volunteers to facilitate client appointments in our free clothing boutique. Our Sister’s Closet offers free resources on for women in need of clothing for interviews, school, court and other life transitions. Commitment:
- Minimum 6-month commitment requested
- 2-4 hour shifts at least once a week
- 2-week trial period
Hours:
- Mondays: 1pm-3pm
- Tuesdays: 1pm-3pm, 3pm-5pm
- Thursdays: 1pm-3pm, 3pm-5pm
- On Call: Available on an as need basis to cover appointments when other volunteers are out sick or on vacation
General Summary:
Our Sister’s Closet is seeking individuals who want to put their eye for style to work helping others. Empowerment and wellbeing are at the core of Our Sister's Closet services. In this role you will embody these values as you support individuals shopping our free clothing boutique. Through customized personal care, individuals in this roll help clients build outfits appropriate for their needs while also offering an exceptional shopping experience for individuals experiencing homelessness, family violence or other challenging life circumstances.
Expectations:
- An understanding of current styles
- An ability to move, bend and lift at least 25lbs
- Ability to remain adaptable within a progressive environment
- An willingness to listen deeply, remain attuned to client needs and engage in create solutions
- A willingness to represent YWCA Spokane mission and values
An ideal volunteer would embody the following roles:
Stylist: Stylists thoughtfully engage with clients through active listening while offering clothing and accessory options based on clients expressed needs.
- Assist clients in finding items that meet their needs, style and body type.
- Replenish boutique inventory to ensure each client is offered the best selection.
- Maintain an organized and accessible back-room for easy re-stocking.
- Maintain a visually appealing boutique space to create the ultimate shopping experience.
Ambassador: Ambassadors embody gratitude and compassion to amplify our vision of equity for all
- Create a supportive environment where clients can experience the highest-level customer service possible.
- Offer hospitality toward YWCA program participants as they enter and leave the building.
- Establish trust and knowledge of YWCA Spokane resources for referral when appropriate.
