Now recruiting volunteers to sort incoming clothing donations for our free clothing boutique. Our Sister’s Closet offers free resources on behalf of women needing clothing for interviews, school, court and other life transitions. Commitment:

  • Minimum 6-month commitment requested
  • 2-4 hour shifts at least once a week
  • 2-week trial period

Hours:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 9am-5pm
  • Wednesday: 10am-5pm
  • Friday: 9am-3pm

General Summary:

Our Sister’s Closet is in need of individuals who want to put their eye for quality and style to work helping others. In this role you will sort incoming donations to be sure we are offering only the best quality items in our free clothing boutique. Your careful attention to detail and willingness to heft donations allows us to curate a collection that offers empowerment and dignity to each woman accessing clothing resources.

Expectations:

  • An understanding of current styles
  • An ability to move, bend and lift at least 30lbs
  • Ability to remain adaptable within a progressive environment
  • An ability to maintain safety while consolidating large quantities of goods
  • A willingness to represent YWCA Spokane mission and values

An ideal volunteer would embody the following roles:

Curator: Curators thoughtfully and strategically pick clothing and accessories to create a boutique experience.

  • Discern if donations are modern, versatile and in great condition
  • Replenish boutique inventory to ensure each client is offered the best selection
  • Maintain an organized and accessible back-room for easy re-stocking
  • Maintain a visually appealing boutique and donation space to create the ultimate shopping experience.

Ambassador: Ambassadors embody gratitude and compassion to amplify our vision of equity for all

  • Assist donors and programs partners by helping them load and unload donations.
  • Offer hospitality toward YWCA program participants as they enter and leave the building.
  • Offer support and assistance to front desk staff while receiving donations.
