Mary Alberts – Bio

Thank you for serving as a YWCA Spokane Board of Director from 2019 - 2021!

We are deeply grateful for the time, care, and leadership you shared as a member of our Board. Your thoughtful guidance, commitment to our mission, and willingness to lend your voice and perspective helped strengthen YWCA Spokane and advance our work to build a more equitable and safe community. The impact of your service will continue to be felt through the programs, partnerships, and people you helped support. Thank you for your dedication and for leaving our organization stronger because of your involvement.

On behalf of our team, those we serve, and our community we thank you for all you do!

Retired from Whitworth University, and having served on a number of community boards over the years, Mary Alberts uses her knowledge, experience, and network to advance the mission of the YWCA. Having lived and worked for several years in China, often as the only female manager in male dominated companies, she understands the insecurity and alienation often felt by many of our YWCA clients as they seek ways to gain freedom and empowerment. Mary is grateful to serve on the YWCA board, raising crucial funding and helping to address the many issues that challenge our YWCA community.

"I love being a part of the YWCA board! Such smart, gifted women from whom I have learned so much," says Mary. "We are a working board and all care deeply for the community we serve. The commitment of the YWCA's leadership team and staff is just amazing, making it our pleasure to provide additional support and oversight. The integrity of this organization inspires me every day."
