Dr. Robin Pickering – Bio

Your thoughtful guidance, commitment to our mission, and willingness to lend your voice and perspective helped strengthen YWCA Spokane and advance our work to build a more equitable and safe community. The impact of your service will continue to be felt through the programs, partnerships, and people you helped support. Dr. Robin Pickering is a Professor of Health Sciences specializing in Community Health at Whitworth University. She is the host of the podcast, “A Closer Look” which seeks to educate, inspire, and empower people to improve their health. Within university and community settings she passionately advocates for a comprehensive, honest, and inclusive approach to sexuality education and social justice. Her recent book, "A Modern Approach to the Birds and the Bees: A Parent's Comprehensive Guide to Talking About Sexuality" summarizes evidence-based recommendations to empower both parents and children.

Her research interests include topics related to women's health issues, sexuality education, health risk behaviors, and health equity. She serves on various boards that support community health and diversity, equity and inclusion. She also owns a private Equity Consultancy company, working with athletic teams and businesses to promote gender equity and prevent sexual assault and harassment.

Cari Grandstaff – Bio

Cari Grandstaff began her career with Washington Trust Bank in 2024, as their AVP, Administrative Officer. Prior to that, she worked for the Kalispel Tribe and Northern Quest for almost 15 years as their Director of Administration.
