Indian Youth Club of Spokane – Bio

Sowmya Surapaneni is the founder of the Indian Youth Club of Spokane, which she established in 2019 with the vision of promoting and sharing Indian culture with the next generation. Her passion for culture and community drives the club's mission, focusing on helping young people connect with their heritage through storytelling, dance, music, and drama.

The Indian Youth Club is dedicated to fostering a deeper understanding of Indian traditions and providing youth with opportunities to explore their cultural roots. By offering a space to learn and engage in these artistic forms, the club helps young people develop a sense of pride in their cultural identity while also promoting creativity and self-expression.

In addition to celebrating culture, the Indian Youth Club emphasizes skills development. Members are encouraged to hone their communication, leadership, and organizational skills, preparing them for success both within the club and beyond. These valuable skills are cultivated through the many activities and performances the club organizes, giving youth the opportunity to grow personally and professionally.

One of the standout offerings of the Indian Youth Club is its free Bollywood dance lessons. These lessons, open to anyone regardless of experience, allow participants to explore the energetic and vibrant world of Bollywood dance. Whether it's learning a new routine or developing choreography for a performance, the lessons create a fun and inclusive environment for everyone to enjoy.

Sowmya’s background plays a key role in her commitment to the club’s mission. She has been dancing since the age of 3, starting with Kuchipudi for over seven years before transitioning to Bollywood dance. Her extensive experience in both styles, combined with her passion for choreography, has made her a dedicated teacher and mentor, guiding dancers of all ages in performances and events.

Thank you, Sowmya, for your invaluable contributions to the Spokane community and for inspiring the next generation to embrace and celebrate Indian culture!

Thank You Bollywood Dance!
