MLK Day 2022
In Honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
On January 17th, our nation celebrates and honors the life and contributions of civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Although we are not able to rally together or attend the Unity March, we can still embody and uphold Dr. King’s legacy.
What are your plans for this day of service?
Below are examples of how we can step into action or service to our community.
To learn more about the ways you can step into action, please contact the MLK Center by calling 509-858-0856 or by visiting their Facebook page. Their flyer is also available to share.

Supporting Racial Justice Beyond MLK Day
It is important that we continue to honor the work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr beyond a single day of commemoration.
We asked the RSJ Committee and our YWCA Staff how they plan to support racial and social justice work today and throughout the year. Here are some of their responses:
-
Donate to local equity organizations monthly, such as the MLK Center and Carl Maxey Center.
-
Volunteer for local partner agencies focused on racial & social justice work.
-
Donate children’s books to the MLK Center.
- Commit to serve and join the MLK Day 2022 National Day of Service at mlkday.gov.
