People’s Rally 2025 (Previously Women’s Rally)
YWCA Spokane staff joined hundreds of community members in rallying for bodily autonomy on January 18th at the Women's Rally in Riverfront Park.
YWCA supports equal access to healthcare, abortion, and birth control for all including the trans and LGBTQIA2S+ community as part of our mission of eliminating racism and empowering women. The Women's Rally is a special opportunity for staff to live out this mission in the broader community.
Speech from YWCA Spokane CEO
YWCA Spokane CEO, Jeanette Hauck, spoke alongside other community leaders about ending violence against women. Highlights include:
- Hauck outlined the pervasiveness of violence against women with the statistic that “every day, more than 130 women are killed by a partner or family member—simply for being women.”
- A call to action to support domestic violence survivors: “Write to your representatives. Attend council meetings. Show them that we will need action and funding.”
- She directly addressed survivors of domestic violence, saying “We see you. We believe you. And we are fighting for you.”
- A final call for unity aimed to inspire collective action from rally participants, “Together, we are stronger than fear. We are louder than indifference. And we are more powerful than hate. Let us rise together and act together — until violence against women is no longer a statistic, but a thing of the past.”
