Donating Gift-In-Kind

To help meet our client's needs, we request specific items at certain times throughout the year. Consider conducting a donation drive for items listed below to ensure we are able to meet this critical need. 

Donate to Our Sister's Closet

Our Sister's Closet is YWCA Spokane's free, donation-based women's clothing and necessity boutique for anyone who identifies as a woman or non-binary individual. 

Monthly Donation Drives

  • January – February: New deodorant & shaving supplies
  • March – April: New socks
  • May – June: New underwear
  • July – August: Full size bottles of shampoo & conditioner
  • September – October: New & gently used leggings
  • November – December: New & gently used coats

How to Donate

  • Drop-off window: Tuesdays from 9am - 5pm

Our Sister's Closet boutique accepts new clothing and necessity donations as well as gently used women's clothing. 

The below items are always in high demand throughout the year. 

  • New deodorant and shaving supplies
  • New feminine hygiene products
  • New packaged socks
  • New underwear
  • New bras
  • Full size bottles of shampoo and conditioner sets
  • New and gently used leggings
  • New and gently used coats (seasonal - fall & winter)

Conduct a focused effort in 4 Easy Steps: 

  1. Tell us your plan.
    • We can advertise your drive on social media, inform you of our current needs, and schedule a time to receive donations. Let us know at oursisterscloset@ywcaspokane.org. 
  2. Call on your community. 
    • Are you part of a book club or church group? Do you work in an office? Want to do something fun and different for your birthday or another important life events? Gather and inform your group of people to help and let them spread the word!
  3. Decide what you want to donate. 
    • The following items are generally always needed:
      • Bras and panties (bras can be gently used or new, panties must be new and in packaging)
      • Hygiene items such as feminine hygiene products, full sized shampoos and conditioners, deodorant, dental care products, etc.
      • Socks (must be new in packaging)
      • Jeans and leggings
      • Note: The most successful drives focus on gathering a specific much needed item from the list above.
  4. Schedule a time to drop off donations collected from your drive:

Our Sister’s Closet would not be possible without the support of volunteers.

Volunteering your time to walk women through an appointment in our boutique can be a tremendously rewarding experience. In Our Sister's Closet, you will participate in a fast-paced environment completing a variety of different tasks. 

Skills of an ideal OSC Volunteer:

  • Excellent time management, able to complete a variety of tasks
  • Able to work by themselves and with others
  • Knowledgeable about appropriate clothing fit and styling
  • Greets customers with warmth, assists in appointments, and asks appropriate questions
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills, proficiency with Chrome and Google programs is a plus
  • Experience in fashion merchandising, retail, interior design, and customer service is a plus.

Group Volunteering

Group volunteering is a great way to have fun with friends and colleagues while doing good in our community! If you would like to gather friends and colleagues for a fun service project, consider signing up for a sorting party. We offer one-time volunteer events for groups of 5–10 people to sort donations.
