YWCA Spokane's 24-hour domestic violence helpline is available for you to call at any time. We are prepared to answer your questions about options for safety, access to our safe shelter or our other programs, and community resources. Friends and family who are concerned about how best to support a friend experiencing domestic violence are also welcome to call.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the helpline only for victims / survivors?
We specialize in services for survivors of intimate partner domestic violence. If you are a survivor or are looking to support a friend experience abuse by an intimate partner, please call. We are happy to help connect you to meaningful resources.
Who is answering the phone?
Domestic Violence Victim Advocates at our year round safe shelter answer helpline calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
What happens to information that is collected?
Our helpline is confidential. We are mandated to keep your information private and have extra legal protections to do so (RCW 5.60.060).
When screening into our shelter through the helpline, we do ask many questions to help assess how best to move forward. Please know we will not pressure you to share anything outside what you feel comfortable to share. We believe that your words belong to you. We also know that breaching confidentiality could be a safety risk for some survivors.
We do not disclose any identifying information. We only report out the number of calls and basic demographic data to funders, like other domestic violence programs do. This data helps illustrate the fact to lawmakers that intimate partner violence is a critical issue in our area.
I don’t feel like I’m in crisis. Why would I call?
Not everyone who calls our helpline is in crisis. Sometimes people are looking for specific resources or information after hours when our main office is closed. We welcome you to call if you need support of any kind related to intimate partner domestic violence.
What about LGBTQ+ folks or men?
YWCA Spokane serves all, proudly. We serve survivors of intimate partner violence of all sexual orientations and gender identities.
