Hope For The Holidays Success – 2017

THANK YOU to our amazing Spokane community for bringing Hope For The Holidays to 388 clients and their family members this holiday season!

This holiday we have been overwhelmed with gratitude and appreciation for such a caring community. Spokane really stepped up this year by donating holiday gifts for women, children, pets, and families. We are so thankful for those who have helped make this season a little bit brighter. Pictures below

Adopt-A-Family Wishlist Program

We delivered holiday gifts to 100% of the families who signed up for our wishlist program, with the dedicated help of over 30 volunteers and staff! Amazing! A total of 48 families had their holiday wishes fulfilled because of the generous hearts of 39 community members, families, and organizations who sponsored each of our families.  We can’t thank you enough!

Holiday Gift Room

With the help of community drives and caring individuals we created a “holiday gift room” that provided more then 30 of our clients an opportunity to shop for holiday presents for their family.

Emergency Shelter HOLIDAY Stockings

Over the holiday season, women and children will unexpectedly arrive at our safe shelter because they are fleeing a violent domestic violence situation. Our amazing community fulfilled 29 of the 40 emergency holiday stockings requested. Stockings included goodies and necessities for mothers, single women, children and pets who will be staying with us over the holidays until a safe home can be established. We are so thankful for this incredible contribution.

Client Holiday Party

Each year, the staff at YWCA decide to organize a special holiday party for clients and their families. This year we had 74 women and children attended the celebration! Each enjoyed a holiday feast, participated in holiday activities, and left with some festive goodies. Special thanks to our staff for creating such a special event for those we serve.

Furniture Vouchers

As a part of this year’s holiday program we asked the community to sponsor $100 furniture vouchers for women who have made the courageous decision to leave a life-threatening relationship and start anew.  Each $100 voucher provides essential household items for a family to create new beginnings. We are happy to say caring community members purchased 4 furniture vouchers, providing 4 women and their children with a great opportunity for a fresh start.

Our need for furniture vouches is on-going. Click here to sponsor a voucher today.

Unexpected Holiday Surprises

In addition to the amazing donations discussed above, several local organizations and individuals took it upon themselves to create donation drives to support our families.  This December has provide many wonderful surprises that we are so dearly thankful for. Our community is truly amazing!

We Are So Very Thankful For You

At a time of year meant for joy, hope, and the celebration of families, you – our amazing Spokane community – provided just that for the incredible, resilient, and awe-inspiring women and families that we have the honor to serve. We are so grateful for the opportunity to connect members of our community with one another, especially during the Holiday season.

Thank you for your support!

If you didn’t get a chance to make a year-end, tax-deductible donation in support of YWCA Spokane and those we serve, there is still time. Donate today!
