Thank you to Premera Blue Cross for Your Impactful Gift!

Thank you to Premera Blue Cross for your Social Impact grant!

We recognize Premera’s commitment to ending intergenerational trauma, abuse, and violence. With your support, YWCA Spokane’s Intimate Partner Domestic Violence Support Services will have the opportunity to appropriately train trauma-informed therapists, jointly engage non-abusing parents and children to begin breaking down the intergenerational cycle of abuse and violence, build a trauma-informed therapeutic environment, and become more data-informed. With Premera’s support, we will be able to:

  • Provide EMDR training for therapists who are not EMDR certified.
  • Continue EMDR training for our Clinical Director to become an EMDR approved consultant.
  • Send therapists who are already EMDR certified to the EMDR International Association conference for CEUs.
  • Train our Child Therapist to become certified in play therapy so she can more effectively serve children with acute anxiety and PTSD.

In addition, our ADVP office will have the support to begin an engagement protocol, using Motivational Interviewing techniques and trauma-informed approaches, for encouraging the non-abusing parent and their child(ren) exposed to DV to engage with individual counseling services and, when appropriate, parent-child family therapy. With this, our agency will be able to create more trauma-informed healing environments for survivors
