YWCA Spokane's youth-led leadership group is currently on pause due to funding constraints. 

NOTICE: YWCA Spokane's Teen Council is currently on pause due to a significant loss of governmental funding.

Teen Council A free, diverse, youth-led effort focused on making the community a safer, healthier place for young people in Spokane.

It is our goal to promote healthy relationships, shift the culture around violence, and empower youth to become change leaders in their community through education, advocacy, and activism about healthy relationships and teen dating violence.

Opportunities

This program provided youth with the following opportunities to amplify their voices:

  • Speak to the power of healthy teen relationships;
  • Promote healthy teen relationships;
  • Help us plan and host events for Teen Dating Violence Action Month in Februrary;
  • Learn about teen dating violence issues & policies;
  • Use media and the arts to advocate for change;
  • Partner with adults, youth, and organizations to promote healthy relationships;
  • Help organize and engage in community events & activities
Eligibility

This opportunity is for teens 13-18 years old from the Spokane County area who are interested in any of the following;

  • Leadership development & activism
  • Social justice efforts
  • Shaping how we talk about relationships in our community
  • The prevention of violence in our community
  • Creating healthier futures for all
  • Impacts of an abusive relationship
  • How to help friends in abusive relationships

2025 Youth Self-Care Summit Recap

The Youth Self-Care Summit in Spokane is a one-day celebration empowering young women of color through self-care education and community. Hosted by YWCA Spokane and SWAG, the summit features interactive workshops, local facilitators, and a keynote by SWAG director Jaime Stacy, fostering connection, healing, and collective growth together locally.

The Spokane MLK Community Center invites the community to join for the annual MLK Day Rally, March, and Resource Fair on January 19th. The Rally begins at 10:00 AM at the Spokane Convention Center, followed by the March and then the Resource Fair. We hope you will join us in celebrating and commemorating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
