Women's History Month

A community-wide celebration of women in March.

Celebrate Women, Ignite Change

Together as a community we will transform Women’s History Month in Spokane into a community-wide annual celebration of women and girls.

When we champion women and girls, we change our community for the better. We celebrate Women’s History Month to remind ourselves of the extraordinary accomplishments and contributions of women to our culture and society. When we lift up voices that often go unheard, celebrate milestones achieved, and unearth the tremendous history of women in our community, we all benefit.

Local organizations, businesses and institutions are teaming up to celebrate the achievements of women and girls throughout the month of March and we invite you to join us. The month includes YWCA Spokane’s annual Women of Achievement Awards celebration.

It is more important than ever to join together as a community to lift up women and look towards the possibilities ahead when we all step into action.

Change does not happen in a silo; it requires a team effort from many people, strong institutions and support from every part of society. Together, we are stronger and will foster a ripple effect that will have a lasting impact for generations to come.

Examples:
  • Highlight the women making a difference in your company – find ways to celebrate them both internally and externally
  • Share stories about women leaders at your company, in our community or from history in your employee newsletter, customer email, digital signage, social media, blog, website, etc.
  • Start a mentor program, connecting upcoming young women with established women leaders
  • Offer Women’s History Month specials at wineries, restaurants, and retail establishments
  • Coordinate a woman leader to speak at your organization
  • Host a celebration for International Women’s Day on March 8th
  • Give back with a donation drive for women centric agencies or create care packages for shelters
  • Cheer on local women’s college basketball teams during March Madness
  • And so much more!
