In these difficult times, your contributions are so meaningful and will make this season a little brighter for those service by YWCA Spokane who are impacted by domestic violence, homelessness, and unemployment.

To accommodate the different needs of families utilizing our services, each department has its own wishlist process. Take a moment to learn more about each department’s needs.

Once a family wishlist has been selected, please complete the below online donation form so we know which family you will be ceremoniously adopting. Once received, a staff member will reach out to confirm the desired family’s wishlist is still available.

Donation Drop Off Schedule

Please deliver all gifts unwrapped to YWCA Spokane, 930 N Monroe St, Spokane, WA 99201 on the following days:

Monday, December 6th, from 11:00am – 3:00pm
Tuesday, December 7th, from 11:00am – 3:00pm
Wednesday, December 8th, from 12:00pm (noon) – 4:00pm
Thursday, December 9th, from 12:00pm (noon) – 4:00pm

To accommodate ECEAP’s winter break schedule and allow our families requesting gift cards time to shop for themselves ahead of the holidays, all donations need to be delivered by Thursday, December 9th. If you would like to mail your gift, please address it to the program of choice (i.e. attention: DV Safe Shelter or ECEAP). Thank you for your gracious support this holiday season!

Early childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP)

Through YWCA Spokane’s ECEAP, over 100 families engage in our pre-school program that is focused on preparing 3 and 4 year old children in low-income families for success with elementary school and beyond. ECEAP is a free preschool that promotes long-term success with school and life. In addition to early learning, ECEAP provides, family support, and health and nutrition services. : Adopted! LBGTQ family who love to have movie nights, go camping, build forts, play games and just be together

: Adopted! We are a family of 3. Mom has Crohns disease which can make it hard to make it to school and appointments sometimes. Mom is working extremely hard to provide for her two children and take care of herself mentally and physically.

: Our family has overcome many challenges and is getting back on our feet as a whole. We really enjoy family time together at home and getting out and enjoying the beautiful PNW.

: Single mother in recovery. Survivor of DV and Human trafficking. Volunteer for HRC Minstrays, working to better financial stability. Recently finished her AAS in business management. Active in recovery. Any support will be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your consideration!

: There are 4 people in our home. All girls at this time. I am the mother of 5 children total. A 21 year old, 20 year old, 19 year old, 11 year old and 4 years old. Only 3 of them still live at home  I experienced DV while pregnant with my last daughter so I am very blessed that she survived pregnancy. She was born a month early and has the nickname ‘Little.’ She is very special to me and I love all my children, she is my miracle baby!

: Mother and daughter living with cousins, aunts and uncles. Close knit family who wants to spend more time together and move into own place. Anything helps!

: We are a single parent family of 3. Our names are Jesse (Mommy), Bruce, and Peter! Both kiddos were born in Spokane with family spread out all the way down to Alabama! We love going on short hikes and walking to the park. We love all animals and greatly appreciate our community workers and helpers. More music, books and conversations; less TV!

: Adopted! Our family is 2 moms and a stepdad. There are our ECEAP student has 2 siblings and a third coming in December. The kids are all super close in age and are the best of friends.

: We are a family of three and I am a single mom who is in college to become a medical assistant. I have amazing children, my daughter is 11 and is smart, funny and just like me. My son is 3 and is smart, likes to play jokes on people and loves to be outside!

: Adopted! The ‘Melting Pot’ of our family discovered each other in 2016. We enjoy being outdoors, love animals and love learning about nature. Mom and the kids are crafters!

: Adopted! Mom and dad have been together for about 8 years and our ECEAP student will be 5 in December. We have lived in the same apartment for 3.5 years now. Our next step will be looking for our dream home. I was in the process of a home loan right before I transferred jobs so now we are back to waiting a little longer. We are always out doing things; hiking, camping, traveling, lake days. We are always busy and on the go!

: Adopted! We’re a family of 6 that just moved into a new house after we had two loses in the family (a great-grandma and a grandma). Mom is pregnant with a new baby. We have lots of pets: 4 dogs, a cat, chickens, frogs, fish, and foster bunnies!

: Hello! We’re the “C” Family. There are 7 of us, 3 boys and 2 twins on the way and of course Mom and Dad. We love to have movie nights together, picnic dates and family night. We are a loving family and appreciate all the kind and loving help. Thank you so much.

: Adopted! A big family of children of all ages, grown and young. Dad is a semi-truck driver, so he spends a lot of time away from the family. Pentecostal religion is a family value.

: Adopted! Our family lives in Airway Heights. We enjoy going to school and spending time with other family members on weekends. We enjoy fishing, playing dress up and singing. We also love swimming and playing Mario Maker.

YWCA Spokane’s safe shelter for survivors of domestic violence and their children is a vital program focused on ensuring the safety of survivors who are fleeing violence from an intimate partner by providing safe shelter, counseling, case management, education, and basic necessities like food, clothing, personal care items, and transportation. : Adopted! Susan, a domestic violence survivor, is a mother with two young daughters, 5 and 6 years old, and an older son who is 14. Susan came to our shelter after fleeing an abusive partner of seven years. Susan and her children have been in our shelter for several months and Susan has made great progress! She has been successful in finding a great, new job now that the kids are back to school full time. She is ready to find her family a place of their own . Susan’s hope for the holidays is that she and her children continue to heal from the abuse they have endured, and that they will be able to create a peaceful home. Please help Susan and her family with $400 in gift cards.

: Adopted! Lindsey is a first time mother who has a one year old daughter. Lindsey came to our shelter with just the things she could put in a tote bag. Lindsey fled her abusive partner in the middle of the night while he was sleeping. Lindsey did not have a chance to “pack” for leaving, as her partner would have become suspicious, and that would have put her in further danger.While at the shelter Lindsey has connected with many resources, including the YWCA family law office to assist with a parenting plan, and Our Sisters Closet to help with some much needed clothing.Lindsey’s hope for the holidays would be some self-care, pampering items for herself, and something fun like bath toys for her daughter. Please consider helping this family with a $200 gift card.

: Adopted! This family has a mom, Sherry, with four kiddos. Sherry’s sons are eleven and fifteen and daughters who are six and thirteen. Sherry left her abusive husband after 16 years of marriage, and is a real go getter. She loves crafts, and involves her children in many activities here at the shelter. They have all been helpful in taking care of our vegetable garden beds, and have done a number of jigsaw puzzles together. The family’s room is decorated with some of the craft projects they have put together while staying with us, and it looks so nice!Sherry’s hope for the holidays would be to make sure there would be new warm coats and boots for all. This family is using the bus to get to school and appointments so these items are a must. Some other things would be family games, DVDs, a DVD player, and bedding sets. Please consider helping this family of five with $500 in gift cards for the holidays.

: Adopted! This family came to us just recently. The mother Brittney is twenty five and has a two year old girl Annie and a four year old boy Joseph. Brittney has been attending online classes for community college and has found childcare for her kids. The family is working with our housing advocates and is hoping to find transitional housing soon. Brittany’s hope for the holidays is that she can continue with school, graduate with her degree, and find a job that will be enough to support her family.

: Aubrey is a thirty six year old mom, and a domestic violence survivor with three children. Aubrey has one son, who is nine, a daughter who is six, and another daughter who is three. Aubrey has been working so hard on keeping things as upbeat as possible with the kids. She loves playing with them, and since coming to our shelter, she has gotten the older kids enrolled in their new schools, and the preschooler is now enrolled in the YWCA’s ECEAP program. This family has a mamma cat and her three kittens. These are very sweet kids and they are all very gentle with the kittens. Aubrey is working, and has been saving for snow tires for her van. The kids could all use backpacks, new school clothes, and supplies. Aubrey’s hope for the holidays this year is to have an opportunity to spend some time establishing some new holiday traditions for her family. Please consider helping this family with a $400 gift card.

: Adopted! Corrina celebrated her fiftieth birthday this year! She has custody of her three grandsons who are ages four, six, and nine. They are from the west side of the stat€ and are all huge Seattle Seahawks fans who love everything football! If Corrina had gift cards for her grandsons this holiday season she would get her grandsons new sweatshirts and tennis shoes. Corrina would like to get new dishes and kitchen items as well as bath towels and bedding. With these items they would be prepared for when they find an apartment of their own. Corrina’s hope for the holidays would be to reconnectwith her daughter, the boy’s mom, and have her be a part of the holidays. Please consider helping this family with a $400 gift card.

: Adopted! This family has a new mom Dora, who is nineteen and a beautiful baby girl Camila, who is just two months old. Dora Came to Spokane from out of state, to be with her partner. Dora’s partner became increasingly abusive throughout her pregnancy, and she reached out to us via our crisis line for shelter. Dora does not know anyone in Spokane and has no friends or family here. She is trying her best to build a support system here, and is working with our legal advocates to get full custody of her baby. Dora’s hope for the holidays would be to be awarded custody, and be allowed to go home where her family and support system are in place. Please consider helping this family with a $200 gift card.

: Adopted! This family is a father Anthony, who is just twenty one and his son who is four years old. Anthony is staying in one of the apartments that the YWCA leases for families fleeing abuse. These units are perfect for families who would not be able to stay in our main shelter location for varying reasons. Anthony called our crisis line after his partner showed up at his parents’ house. Anthony and his son had to leave their apartment because his sons’ mother had become increasingly violent. They had been staying with his parents, but that is no longer a safe option.Anthony wants to get his son into preschool and would love to buy a DVD player so they can watch their favorite movies again. Since they are starting over, they could purchase some much needed items for when they get a place of their own. Anthony’s hope for the holidays would be to get into permanent housing with his son. Please consider helping this family with a $200 gift card gift.

: Adopted! This family includes Mom, Alexa and her three children. She has a daughter who is seven, a son who is five, and another daughter who is ten. Alexa’s children bring so much happiness to her life. They are her pride and joy! Alexa has been disconnected from her family in the area because she does not want to put anyone in danger from her ex-husband. Her hope for the holidays would be to reach out to family and friends again. She would also like to get her children set up with one of our counselors to begin the healing process by learning how to move past the abuse they have seen. Please consider helping this family this holiday season with a $400 gift card gift.

: Adopted! This family has a 32 year old mother, and domestic violence survivor named Jillian, her nine year old daughter, and their beloved cat Cali. Jillian and her daughter have come into our safe shelter after Jillian’s husband found them at another shelter in the area. They have only been with us a short time, and are still adjusting to all of the changes they are going through. Jillian works part time, and her daughter is very excited to be back in school. Jillian loves to design and fill journals, and is exceptionally creative. Jillian’s hope for the holidays is to have a home that is safe, and where she can have a designated space for crafting with her daughter. Please help this family with $300 in gift cards to help make this holiday season a special one.

: Adopted! This Family has a domestic violence survivor named Katie. She is here at our safe shelter along with her support animal, a yellow lab and retriever mix named Sunny. Sunny has played an enormous role in helping Katie manage the transition into our safe shelter. Katie has experienced a great deal of trauma and Sunny helps to calm her when she is having anxiety.Katie’s hope for the holidays is to be able to get settled into an apartment where she and Sunny could live peacefully, and enjoy each other’s companionship. Please consider helping this sweet family with a $200 gift card.

: Adopted! This family has a mom Jessie, and her two kids, a daughter who is four, and a daughter who is seven. The four year old has special needs, and Jessie has been working with her a great deal. She is also making arrangements to have someone come to work with her a few days a week. Jessie’s hope for the holidays is to visit her parents. Because of Jessie’s husband’s controlling behavior, Jessie and the girls have not been able to see them in over a year. Please consider helping this young family with $300 in gift cards for the holidays.

: Adopted! This family has a mom Amanda, her mother Teresa, and two small boys, ages 4, and 18 months. Amanda has been a caregiver to her mother for this past year after Teresa too a fall, and was not able to get around herself. Teresa is doing much better thanks to her daughter’s care. The family is staying in one of our leased apartments, and has been working hard to get a place of their own. The little ones just love having Terersa(GG) around and Amanda is grateful for the emotional support her mother has given her during this difficult time. This family’s hope for the holidays is that they can start saving up for all of the things they will need once they are able to secure housing. Please consider helping this loving family with $400 in gift cards for the holidays.

: Adopted! This is a family in the making. Rochelle is expecting her first child in January! Even though the circumstances are difficult, she couldn’t be any more excited. Rochelle has been filling up her room with everything baby! Rochelle’s hope for the holidays would be that she and the baby will be able to move back to Oregon where they can be free from abuse, and where they will have the support of friends and families. Please consider helping this soon to be family with a $200 gift card to make the holidays a little brighter.

: Adopted! This family has a mother, a domestic violence survivor, named Margo, her fifteen year old son, and her eleven year old daughter. Margo has been working with the YWCA for over a year now, trying to do safety planning and figuring out the safest way to get away from her abusive husband. She and her children have brought with them their beloved family dog Ziggy. Ziggy is a nine year old retriever-lab mix, and is as sweet as can be. Margo’s hope for the holidays is to get the kids settled into their new schools, and that they can easily make new friends. Please consider making the holidays a little brighter for this family with a gift card for $300.
