ECEAP Advocacy Day 2017

YWCA Spokane is proud of our Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) staff and parents for going to Olympia last week to engage in the Washington State Association(WSA) of ECEAP Advocacy Day on Wednesday February 8th, 2017 to help kids receive the quality early education they deserve.

Each year, supporters of early learning programs come together to advocate for the many benefits that early childhood education has on our community. WSA groups provided a strong voice in Washington, DC and Olympia as our legislators make decisions that affect low-income children and families.

Our voice is made stronger by the continuing involvement of hundreds of ECEAP parents engaged in the Parent Leadership program. This year, one of YWCA Spokane’s ECEAP parents at our Windsor site joined us on Advocacy Day as a Parent Leader. She did a great job engaging with legislators and advocating for ECEAP expansion. All together our team of parents and staff met with 12 senators and congressmen to discuss the benefits of ECEAP expansion.
