Honor Survivors by Taking Action
Honor Survivors by Taking Action
This October, during Domestic Violence Action Month (DVAM), honor survivors, remember lives lost, and strengthen our collective commitment to end intimate partner violence.

This action kit provides simple, ready-to-use tools for individuals, workplaces, schools, and organizations to show their support for survivors throughout October.

By taking action this October, you become part of a larger movement across Spokane to build a culture where safety, respect, and dignity are visible, celebrated, and normalized.
Why this is Important
The Facts
- In Spokane County, rates of domestic violence remain among the highest in Washington State.
- Every year, YWCA Spokane serves more than 14,000 women, men, children, and families.
- Calls to our 24hr domestic violence helpline have increased dramatically.
Spreading Awareness is a Critical
Visual displays and sharing educational materials create opportunities for conversations, reduce stigma, and show survivors that they are not alone.
Community Vigil

Join a powerful Community Vigil for survivors held in Riverfront park on October 1st to honor lives lost to domestic violence. This event will serve to also celebrate the strength of survivors, launch awareness of efforts held throughout the month, and encourage our community to stand united in our call to end abuse.
Action Kit
This action kit includes resources you can use to spread awareness and help deepen our collective understanding of domestic violence so we can bring it to an end. Your efforts help generate awareness and meaningful action in our community!

It Takes All of Us
Right now, our 24-hour Domestic Violence Helpline is ringing more than it ever has. We're on track to receive 6,000 calls this year, nearly 2,000 more calls than last year.
Behind every call to our helpline is someone taking a courageous first step toward safety and healing. As those calls increase dramatically this year, Domestic Violence Action Month is our chance to take action together.
