During Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October), we're empowering supporters like you to raise critical funds and awareness for survivors in our community. Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Fundraising through JustGiving makes it simple to build support for ending domestic violence. It's an easy way to become an Ambassador for survivors!

Show survivors you're standing with them by raising funds for YWCA Spokane's domestic violence programs through JustGiving
2. Tell Your Story
Use this toolkit to customize your JustGiving fundraising page with compelling images, text, and video that highlight why ending domestic violence matters to you
3. Spread the Word
Share your personal JustGiving fundraiser page with your network to promote YWCA Spokane's life-saving work during DVAM
Ambassador Basics
Launch Your Campaign
1. Create Your Campaign Page
- Visit the 2025 DVAM JustGiving page.
- Click the orange button that says "Start Fundraising"
- Walk through the steps to create your custom fundraising page.
2. Set Your Goal
A suggested goal is $200-$500. Consider these impact levels:
- $100: Provides crisis hotline support for 4 survivors
- $250: Covers the cost of 10 emergency helpline calls
- $500: Supports 20 survivors when they call the emergency helpline
- $1,000: Provides comprehensive case management for one survivor
Pro Tip: Be the first to donate to your own campaign! This shows your commitment and encourages others to give.
3. Tell Your Story
Your story is crucial for connecting with potential donors. Consider including:
Why DVAM Matters to You:
- Personal connection to the cause (if comfortable sharing)
- Why ending domestic violence is important to your community
- What you've learned about YWCA Spokane's impact
Sample Story Framework: "During Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I'm raising funds for YWCA Spokane because [your reason]. Every day, YWCA Spokane provides life-saving services to survivors in our community, including emergency shelter, counseling, and legal advocacy. Your donation will help ensure no survivor has to face domestic violence alone."
Key Statistics to Include:
- 1 in 4 women and 1 in 10 men experience domestic violence in their lifetime
- YWCA Spokane serves over 14,000 individuals annually
- Around 25% of all violent crime in Spokane is related to domestic violence, the majority of which is specifically intimate partner violence
- YWCA is on track to receive 6,000 calls to the DV helpline, nearly 2,000 more calls than last year
- Spokane County continues to have one of the highest reported domestic violence rates in Washington.
- In 6 months, Spokane Police received over 1,400 calls regarding intimate partner violence, making up the majority of all DV-related calls.

- Host a Gathering: Get together with friends or family and host a DVAM themed event.

DVAM Action Kit
This kit provides simple, ready-to-use tools for individuals, workplaces, schools, and organizations to show visible support for survivors throughout October. The kit includes facts, posters, sample social media content, and digital graphics that highlight the importance of domestic violence awareness.
