DVAM 2022 – Recap
This Domestic Violence Action Month was an absolute success! Over 400 community members connected with YWCA Spokane through training, outreach, and events this October. Together, we raised awareness and took action towards change in our community. See a recap of our DVAM activities below!
Impacto
|
This October, over 400 individuals connected with YWCA Spokane through training, outreach, and events! Our community engagement team created 125 DVAM awareness kits of stickers, buttons, flyers, and more to spread throughout the community.
Banners
We covered 4 downtown streets with 30 community banners and a few of our own. Thank you to First Interstate Bank, Kalispel Tribe of Indians, Bernardo Wills Architects, Construccion Garco, Spokane Police Guild, Stop The Silence Spokane, y Transitions. These banners will be put up every October to remind survivors that they are not alone!
Paint Spokane Purple
Multiple downtown businesses lit up purple to raise awareness of domestic violence this October. Special thank you to the Downtown Spokane Partnership and all the organizations that helped shine a light for survivors: Providencia, The Grand Hotel, Fox Theater, Lincoln Building, Spokesman-Review, y Cuidado múltiple.
Caminos a seguir
Over 85+ people tuned into the conversation on how survivors are being impacted by recent legislative changes! Watch the recording aquí!
Educación
Throughout October, organizations across Spokane invited us to speak on the myths and realities of intimate partner violence. Shout out to STCU, Mujeres en acción, Whitworth, y WSU Spokane for organizing these opportunities. Over 150 people received training during October with many more signing up for a free, online training in November.
