Meet Morgan

Our therapy practice is empowerment-based and our therapists are committed to helping survivors of intimate partner domestic violence and their families heal and grow. We wanted to get to know our incredible therapists a little more, so we asked them a few questions.

Meet Morgan Colburn, Director of Counseling, Advocacy and Outreach at YWCA Spokane!

You’re called to be brave, but your fear is real, what do you do?
Take a deep breath, try to slow my thoughts down and remind myself that my biggest growth have come from my biggest struggles.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Whistle! I have always been envious of those who could do it so naturally.

Fill in the blank, “Therapy is _____.”
The Bravest thing you can do for yourself.

What is something you learned in the last week?
White chocolate and coconut is a great combo for coffee. Yum!

What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
Something working with plants and flowers. Like a Florist or owning a nursery.

Describe your favorite meal.
Salty and savory like a meatloaf with lots of fresh herbs and buttery mashed potatoes.

What’s a concert you’ll never forget?
My first concert was 98 Degrees. I was young so my brother had to take me and be surrounded by thousands of screaming girls. That is true brotherly love!

What would you most like to tell your younger self?
You are stronger and more resilient than you think you are. Stay true to yourself and you can get through anything.

If you were a cookie, what type would you be?
Well my favorite cookie is a snickerdoodle. It is close to a classic sugar cookie which is reliable, sweet and comforting, but with just a touch of flavor and mystery.

What are 3 words to describe YWCA Spokane?
Empowerment, education, growth
