Meet Brit

Our therapy practice is empowerment-based and our therapists are committed to helping survivors of intimate partner domestic violence and their families heal and grow. We wanted to get to know our incredible therapists a little more, so we asked them a few questions.

Meet Brit Wilson, Associate Therapist at YWCA Spokane!

You’re called to be brave, but your fear is real, what do you do?
Remind myself that I have done hard things before, and that I can do it again.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
I would love to learn how to build & maintain a greenhouse garden.

Fill in the blank, “Therapy is _____.”
Not an indicator of weakness or that something is wrong with you.

What is something you learned in the last week?
That the average emotional state lasts somewhere around 90 seconds on its own.

What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
I would have probably chosen to go to cosmetology school and learned how to do hair and makeup professionally. I already love doing those things for myself!

Describe your favorite meal.
I love to cook, and one of my favorite meals to make is steak with rosemary garlic butter, roasted potatoes, and some kind of salad or roasted vegetable. Makes me hungry just thinking about it.

What’s a concert you’ll never forget?
I got to see my favorite band, A Perfect Circle, a couple of years ago and it was such a great experience. Their music has resonated with me for years and getting to hear them live was so powerful.

What would you most like to tell your younger self?
The right people will love you just the way you are.

If you were a cookie, what type would you be?
Gingerbread. I’m sweet but also a little spicy, I’m unique but also love being part of building something bigger than myself, and I love decorating for holidays.

What are 3 words to describe YWCA Spokane?
Holistic, intentional, teamwork
