Rowena Pineda moved with her family from the Philippines to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1981 when she was 13 years old. She is the oldest of 6 siblings and is the proud aunt of 9 nieces and nephews. Rowena moved to Spokane in 2005. Her son, Ryan, is a graduate of Lewis & Clark High School, Whitworth University and Gonzaga University School of Law.
Rowena currently works at the Washington State Department of Health where she is the Environmental Justice Advisor to the newly created Environmental Justice Council. She is on the Board of the Spokane Chapter of the Asian Pacific Islander Coalition (APIC) (now locally known as Asians for Collective Liberation) and was appointed to the City of Spokane’s Lodging Tax Advisory Committee in 2020.
