2023 Board of Directors – Kiana McKenna
THANK YOU
Each of our wonderful Board of Directors is so passionate about our community and dedicates their time, talent, and resources towards the fulfillment of our mission. On behalf of our team, those we serve, and our community we thank you for all you do!
Kiana McKenna has served on our Board of Directors since 2018! She works at the Pacific Islander Community Association of Washington (PICA-WA) where she leads the agency’s federal, state, and local policy, advocacy, and civic engagement work as their Director of Policy and Civic Engagement. Kiana is proud to carry the torch forward and honor her ancestors in advocating fiercely for the wellness and thriving of her community. She builds and maintains deep roots in the community through volunteer, advocacy, and community organizing work with YWCA Spokane, Asian Pacific Islander Coalition (APIC) Spokane, the Spokane Coalition of Color, and as a board member on the Providence Community Mission Board.
Audre Lorde once said, “I am not free while any woman is unfree, even when her shackles are very different from my own.” This is one of Kiana’s favorite quotes. “I believe wholeheartedly that the YWCA with its mission of eliminating racism and empowering women, is working toward justice, liberation and healing every day for womxn, men, children and families,” says Kiana.
The board of directors is committed to YWCA Spokane’s vital work as a provider of critical social services in the Spokane region. Community leaders volunteer substantial time, skills, funds and other resources to help the organization carry out its mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families and strengthen the Spokane community. Thank you Kiana for your amazing work in our community!
