6th Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Breakfast Registration

YWCA Thanks Local Officers and Detectives For Improving The Lives of Domestic Violence Survivors At Our Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Breakfast

You are cordially invited to join YWCA Spokane for our 6th annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Breakfast on Wednesday, August 21st from 8:00am – 10:00am at YWCA Spokane, 930 N Monroe St, Spokane, WA 99201.

Each year, local officers and detectives are nominated based on their professionalism, their compassion, and on the positive and lasting impact they have had on the lives of survivors of domestic violence. Chosen through a selection process by the staff at YWCA Spokane, award honorees are disclosed during the breakfast celebration.

YWCA is proud to honor the vital work of local Spokane law enforcement who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to support survivors of domestic violence and promote healthy and safe relationships.

At this year’s breakfast, YWCA Spokane will also award the 3rd annual Jackie Bell Award. After the untimely passing of YWCA Spokane Legal Advocate, Jackie Bell, in 2017, staff chose to commemorate her contributions to our community, agency, and clients by establishing an annual “Jackie Bell Award”. This award acknowledges an individual within the domestic violence and law enforcement community who embodies the vision, compassion, creativity, and community spirit that Jackie instilled within her work and life.

“A partnership with law enforcement is paramount to our work,” says YWCA Spokane Legal Advocate, Kami Schiller. “We have terrific partnerships within the Family Justice Center,  the Spokane Police Department, and with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. These relationships allow us to communicate about the needs of the survivors we serve and work to hold perpetrators accountable. Without these partnerships, we would not be able to serve survivors in the best ways possible.”

Community Coming Together

Reducing family trauma and violence has been selected as Spokane’s top community concern. Domestic Violence is the number one call to law enforcement in Spokane County. YWCA Spokane collaborates with community organizations, businesses, and local, state, and federal government agencies and programs in order to educate our community, end the silence with domestic violence, and create a climate of accountability. YWCA invites individuals and organizations to join them on their mission to address this problem, which affects our families, our community, and our economic health.

To learn more about YWCA Spokane’s local “End The Silence” campaign, contact Nicole Nimens, YWCA Spokane Community Educator and Outreach Coordinator, at nicolen@ywcaspokane.org or call 509-789-9290.
