Volunteer Spotlight – Wanene Evans

Wanene Evans - YWCA Spokane VolunteerYWCA Spokane would like to express our sincere gratitude to Wanene Evans this month as our March Volunteer Spotlight.

Wanene has been volunteering her time within the YWCA’s Housing and Shelter Program for the last month and she has already dedicated over 50 hours!  YWCA’s Domestic Violence Safe Shelter storage areas were in need of some serious organizational assistance when Wanene volunteered to take on this overwhelming job.

Many wonderful donations have been received by generous community members over the last several months and staff were struggling to find time to get everything organized in an accessible fashion. Wanene was able to completely overhaul the entire storage area and setup an organized system that allows easy access to all items in a clean and efficient storage system.

“It looks amazing! Now, when a women staying at our shelter needs something, we can get it for her quickly. Now we can easily see what we have available. So helpful! We have been so lucky to have her support over the last month.” says Stephanie, Shelter Manager.

Wanene is currently a student at Spokane Community College enrolled in the Associate of Applied Science degree for Management. She is scheduled to graduate in June 2018.

We are sincerely grateful for all incredible dedication to our agency. Her support has made a difference for our staff and the women and children we serve. Thank you Wanene!
