Safe Shelter Kitchen Remodel

YWCA’s Safe Shelter Kitchen Remodel Is A Heartwarming Sight

This past November we have had much to be thankful for, including the completion of our beautiful shelter kitchen remodel. It took many committed partners who donated their time and resources to pull it off, but we did it! The new kitchen maximizes use of the space by incorporating two full kitchens (one of which is ADA Compliant!) into one workable area for women and children to use while staying at our domestic violence safe shelter.  Photos below!

To our partners and sponsors we thank you for making this dream become a reality:

Sincere appreciation also goes to the local restaurants who donated meals for the women and children to eat while the kitchen was out of commission at our shelter during the remodel. These hot meals made a huge difference to reduce the stress that can come with a remodel in what is already a very difficult time for those who are staying at our shelter. Thank you!

To the local restaurants who donated food, we thank you so much for your support:

Special thanks YWCA Board Chair, Nancy Norbury-Harter and Board Members Susan Ashe and Kate Burke as well as her fiancée Devon for joining our YWCA staff at the ribbon cutting ceremony.  We are thankful to have you celebrate with us!

We have a a few more small projects to complete to finish the dining room and then everything will be in place ready for those we serve to utilize during their time with us.  If you would like to make a donation in support of our safe shelter send your gift to “Friends of the Shelter”, 930 N Monroe St, Spokane WA 99201 or make a donation online. Thank you sincerely for your support!
