YWCA Staff Selected to Join UN’s Commission on the Status of Women

Congratulations to Jemma Riedel-Johnson for being selected as a YWCA USA Delegate for the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

We are thrilled to announce that Jemma Riedel-Johnson, YWCA Spokane’s Engagement Lead, has been selected as one of 20 delegates representing YWCA USA at the 69th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW69) in New York City this March.

UNCSW is the largest global gathering dedicated to advancing gender equality and women’s rights. Each year, world leaders, activists, and organizations come together to discuss pressing issues impacting women and girls worldwide, shaping policies that drive real change. This year’s theme focuses on “Accelerating the Achievement of Gender Equality and the Empowerment of All Women and Girls.”

As part of the YWCA USA delegation, Jemma will participate in discussions, workshops, and events that align with YWCA Spokane’s mission to eliminate racism and empower women. She will share updates on social media throughout the conference, giving our community a front-row seat to the critical conversations shaping global gender equality efforts.

"I am incredibly honored to be part of this global movement for gender equality. Representing YWCA Spokane and engaging in discussions that have a real impact on women and girls worldwide is a privilege. I look forward to sharing my journey and exploring ways to strengthen our local advocacy efforts." – Jemma Riedel-Johnson, YWCA Spokane Engagement Lead

We are incredibly proud of Jemma’s leadership and excited for the knowledge and inspiration she will bring back from this global convening. Follow along on our social media channels (فيسبوك, انستغرام, & ينكدين) to stay updated on her journey and learn how you can support gender equality in Spokane!

Upon her return, Jemma will share her reflections through our blog about her experience, highlighting key takeaways and exploring how YWCA Spokane can continue to create positive change in our community.

Join us in celebrating Jemma and this incredible opportunity to amplify our voice on the international stage!
