Volunteer

Join a Committee

We need community members who are interested in being part of various committees we hold in order to help us achieve key objectives throughout the year.

  • Equity for All Event
  • Legislative Advocacy
  • Women of Achievement Awards Luncheon
  • An Evening In Tuscany Summer Benefit
  • Hope for the Holidays Wishlist Program

YWCA Board of Directors

YWCA Spokane is supported by amazing leaders from the Spokane community who dedicate their talent, time, and treasures in order to help YWCA be in service to our community.

We generally ask members who are interested in joining our board to first volunteer on one of our committees. This helps a caring community member to better understand our agency and mission and determine if they would like to make the 3-6 year commitment to be a member of our Board of Directors.

If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please email our Board Chair at boardchair@ywcaspokane.org

Racial & Social Justice Steering Committee

YWCA Spokane’s Racial and Social Justice Steering Committee is comprised of staff members, board members, and community members who are dedicated to furthering racial equity and social justice in our community.

This group supports cohesion across major focus areas including legislative advocacy, community engagement and education, and internal equity, belonging, and accessibility.

This group encourages racial justice thought leadership on all levels while providing guidance with the implementation of a racial and social justice framework from which to ground agency objectives.

If you are interested in being part of this committee, please email  connect@ywcaspokane.org

Day 3: Entrepreneurship

Starting a business is more than making money, it’s about turning your ideas into something real and helping others. Entrepreneurs create jobs and new products. It’s not easy as there are challenges like money, risk, and competition – but it can be worth it. It gives you freedom, creativity, and a chance to succeed.

Day 2: Hair

Hair is a powerful expression of identity, culture, and beliefs. For many, it reflects heritage, from African braids to Indigenous long hair, each style carrying deep meaning. Despite this, hair discrimination persists, with some facing judgment or exclusion for wearing natural or cultural styles. Everyone deserves the freedom to choose their hair without prejudice.

Day 1: Abortion Access

Abortion is legal in Spokane, but access is hindered by cost, travel, and confusing laws. Marginalized groups face the most barriers. Local resources like Planned Parenthood help, but more support is needed.
