2024 MLK Day Recap
It was a cold and clear day to reflect and march in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s legacy. Through powerful songs and speeches, the rally emphasized the importance of continuing the work that Dr. King started.
It’s been over 60 years since Dr. King’s iconic “I Have A Dream” speech in Washington DC. While we are removed by time and space from this moment in history, we are still responsible for carrying the dream forward for the next generations. The Civil Rights movement and Dr. King are not just fixtures of Black history, but American history.
YWCA Spokane was proud to join the community in attending the MLK Day unity rally, march, and resource fair. We believe that oppression is linked and that to empower women, we must also eliminate racism. Together we can create a beloved community.
